Weddings in Dubai operate on a different timeline to anywhere else. Evening ceremonies starting at 8pm or 9pm are standard. That means photography often happens at 6pm in full summer heat — outdoor shots at 40°C before the venue air conditioning takes over. Your grooming needs to be planned around that reality, not around a generic 'get a haircut the day before' rule.

• 2 weeks before: Book your main haircut session. If you are trying a new style or making a significant change, you want two weeks of wear to confirm it looks the way you want on your face shape.

• 48 hours before: Your primary grooming appointment — final haircut trim, beard shape, hot towel shave. 48 hours is the ideal window: long enough for any straight-razor redness or skin reaction to fully clear, close enough that no regrowth is visible in photographs.

• Morning of: Styling only. No razor, no clippers. Simply apply your product and let the 48-hour session do its job.

• Haircut and blade finish: A precision cut with a straight-razor edge clean-up on the neckline and around the ears — the difference between 'trimmed' and 'sharp' in photographs is always the blade finish.

• Beard shape and symmetry: Cheek lines, neckline gradient, and mustache clearance set to your face's natural geometry. For a wedding, symmetry is paramount — even a one-millimetre imbalance reads in close-up photography.

• Hot towel shave: For grooms going clean-shaven. The steam prep removes the pore-blocking desert dust and SPF buildup that JVC residents accumulate daily, giving the closest, cleanest shave possible before the razor passes.

• Scalp and skin preparation: A light scalp massage improves circulation before a wedding-length day of heat and stress. Ask for it as an add-on.

Day-of Grooming Mistakes to Avoid

• Do not shave the morning of the wedding: Razor redness in photographs is irreversible in post-production without heavy retouching. The 48-hour rule exists for this reason.

• Avoid trying new styling products on the day: Dubai's heat and the stress of a wedding day will behave unpredictably with any product your hair has not been conditioned to. Use what you know works.

• Do not over-apply product in the heat: Outdoor wedding photographs in Dubai's summer mean 40°C heat. Heavy waxes and oil-based products will show migration — drips and streaks — in photographs taken before the venue's cooling system kicks in. Use a lightweight matte clay or water-based pomade.
